The high-speed railway network will bring a new balance to existing modes of transport by promoting the transfer of passengers and goods from air and road transport to the rail system, with energy and
environmental benefits and a reduction in road accidents.
The high-speed network will connect the main Portuguese cities and its area of influence will cover more than 80% of the population and economic activity.
